The study identifies significant gaps in the current Urdu research tradition, including inconsistency in reference styles, lack of structural coherence, and limited adherence to international bibliographic standards. To address these challenges, the research explores the definition, scope, and types of bibliographies. analyzing international models such as ISBD, RDA, AACR2, and ISO 690 to design a comprehensive bibliographic structure suitable for Urdu scholarship. The study classifies bibliographies into annotated, analytical, thematic, chronological, and geographical categories. It distinguishes between primary and secondary sources and discusses the classification of printed, digital, and archival materials. Moreover, it outlines strategies for source selection using library catalogues, controlled vocabularies, and reference management tools such as EndNote. Zotero, and Mendeley. These elements collectively contribute to improving organization, accuracy, and accessibility in Urdu research. The findings reveal major issues in Urdu research, including orthographic inconsistencies, transliteration discrepancies, and irregular cataloguing and publishing practices in South Asia. To resolve these issues, the study recommends standardizing Urdu spelling and script, adopting global bibliographic standards, and establishing digital repositories for research materials. It also proposes institutional policies and researcher training workshops to ensure uniform reference formatting and source verification. Ultimately, the study concludes that creating a standardized bibliographic system will enhance the credibility, transparency, and international recognition of Urdu research. Aligning Urdu bibliographic practices with global academic standards will not only strengthen the language's research infrastructure but also make Urdu scholarship more visible and accessible worldwide.
Yasir Mehmood Copyright (c) 2026 Al-Qirtas http://www.al-qirtas.com/index.php/Al-Qirtas/article/view/468 Sun, 19 Apr 2026 00:00:00 +0300 Reflection of Social Issues in the Poetry of Sahir Ludhianvi http://www.al-qirtas.com/index.php/Al-Qirtas/article/view/467
Sahir Ludhianvi is regarded as one of the most influential poets in Urdu literature who used poetry not only as a form of emotional expression but also as a powerful medium to highlight social realities. His poetry strongly reflects the social, political, and economic problems of his time. Issues such as poverty, class discrimination, social injustice, war, and exploitation are central themes in his work. Through his thought-provoking verses, Sahir criticized the inequalities present in society and raised his voice for the oppressed and marginalized classes. Unlike traditional romantic poetry, Sahir Ludhianvi’s poetry combines themes of love with a deep sense of social awareness and realism. His poetic voice advocates for human dignity, justice, and equality. The element of protest and reform is clearly visible in his poems, where he questions societal norms and challenges oppressive systems. By addressing these issues, Sahir not only exposed the harsh realities of society but also expressed his vision for a more just and humane world. Therefore, his poetry plays a significant role in promoting social consciousness and human values in Urdu literature.
Muhammad Safdar Copyright (c) 2026 Al-Qirtas http://www.al-qirtas.com/index.php/Al-Qirtas/article/view/467 Thu, 16 Apr 2026 00:00:00 +0300
